Cat Haven is a 7 day a week operation that has been rescuing and rehoming cats since 1961, and now receives over 8,400 cats and kittens each year. Operating under the Getting to Zero model, our goal is to rescue and rehome as many cats as possible, ensuring they find loving forever homes.
Our employees are the lifeblood of our organisation, working across all areas including cat welfare, foster, boarding, reception, clinic and admin. We are also supported by a large group of dedicated volunteers who assist us in everyday operations. Working at Cat Haven is both challenging and rewarding; we are a like-minded team who are passionate about animal welfare.

Current Vacancies
Foster Care Officer (Casual)
Location: Shenton Park, WA
Salary: $33–$35 per hour
Hours: Up to 22.5 hours per week (must be available Mondays and weekends as rostered)

About the Role
Join Cat Haven’s Foster Team and help coordinate foster placements, support carers, and ensure cats and kittens receive quality care before rehoming.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, support and manage foster carers
- Match animals with suitable foster homes
- Coordinate intake and movement of foster animals
- Provide carer support (phone, email, in person)
- Maintain accurate database records
- Assist with vet bookings, supplies, and adoption support
- Collaborate with internal teams to achieve rehoming outcomes
Essential Criteria
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Highly organised with ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience in animal care, veterinary or shelter environments
- Confident using databases and computer systems
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Understanding of WHS principles
- Physically capable of manual handling (up to 15kg)
Other Requirements
- Availability: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays + some weekends
- Current National Police Clearance (within 3 months)
